yesterday was so hectic... went to do my passport at safra tampines. came home, studied like crazy. finished lots of hw before i left for the ACJC concert. so now... i am left with add maths assignment (area bounded by graph), literature essay, geography essay... etc. ya, must get it done when i come back from malaysia. supposed to meet valerie at raffles mrt... 7.15pm but she sashayed her way out of the gantry at 7.30pm. typical habit of hers cos she could not find her contacts. rushed down to VCH and was just in time. got the tickets at the counter where meijuan had my name written on the front. so ya, meijuan rocks cos she's so systematic. sat with marc, hilma, zhafir ard the middle. the biggest regret was that i did not sit in the circle seats... so wasted! husna wasn't there cos she had family matters to settle... if now we could have gotten a better view of the band. the band started off with 'and a multitude with one voice spoke'... very nice piece. i love the whole arrangement of the piece and i definitely have to get my hands on the clarinet score. i hope tk band plays the piece for end-year concert. maybe i should rephrase what i said... i hope there will be an alumni band and we will play that piece. hopefully mr chia will agree to having the alumni band back on stage! i have a feeling that it will definitely be a huge success becos the alumni rocks! whatever... the piece was ard 15 mins or so and i think it was the best piece! second piece was... erm.... i forgot! something we played before i think... oh ya, firestorm! haha. generally... bad. i think tk band's firestorm during the competition was bettter. *hope no acjc band members will come here* haha.. the band was messy and rushing... marco said it was the conductor's fault becos he wasn't experienced. at the clarinet soli parts, i could not hear them... maybe it's my ears? i think i should not criticise them too much. afterall, they are the professionals. third piece was 'folks song suite' i think. i think it was very nice too. very melodious! i also want the scores for this piece. have to ask my juniors for it though... the clarinets had quite a few solos too in many of the pieces. i enjoyed listening to them. next i think was 'best songs ever'... forgot what was the tune like? i am sure it was nice too. then interval. saw korkor (marco... so i dun have to put his name too many times) but he was busy looking for people. so ya, did not get a chance to talk to him... and furthermore i was looking at the alumni on stage as they were warming up. after a seemingly short 20 mins interval, the concert commenced again. i forgot what the alumni played but it was hmmm... WOW. the clarinets were running and reaching high notes all the time. *winks* i wanna join them too, maybe can learn something from them. the flauntist was the best i have ever seen... and he was a guy! haha... no surprises. many guys are good flauntist too. he played a solo which was quite long and difficult to play. if i were him, i would get the jitters because there wasn't any accompaniment. i admire his guts! well, all alumni has to be of a suitable standard i guess. the funniest part was the percussion ensemble. they played songs like 'i can see the rainbow', 'star wars', 'ymca', 'elmo's world' and some other familiar tunes. it was probably the most successful part of the concert! haha... everyone joined in by clapping and cheering! job well done i must say! then the main band came back on stage with gr selections. also a terrific piece to play. sigh, i need to recap all the songs by buying the cd. the song that i was looking forward to was harry potter. it was the final song for their repertoire. omg... i love it! magnificent (i am running out of words for 'great')! i want the scores too... am i being too demanding? haha... sorry k! but ya, i wanna sight read all the scores and play it as well as them. haha... then ENCORE! they played a selection of songs again i think... but heck... i forgot how it sound like again! it was again nice. lemme see... the first two songs were conducted by some clarinetist major... very dramatic! his hands were all over the place! haha, but yah, he did a fairly good job. then dr lee tian tee conducted one. the rest were conducted by boris (the senior conductor of ACJC band and korkor's good friend). i think boris was better. boris felt his jacket was too tight that he exchanged jackets with kor... and haha, kor had to endure two hours of a very huge jacket. so comical! at the end of the concert... val wanted to wait for korkor. so i waited with her. serene and wenqi went off with their friends for dinner. saw meijuan at the end. then went off with kor and jie (valerie la). walked thru the underpass towards cityhall mrt... and we three talked quite a lot. about tk band, studies etc. on the train, kor showed us some squashed up flowers his friend gave to him. i pity the poor flower... that from a beauty and delicate object, it is reduced to a piece of junk. i guess kor threw it away. he showed us his messy score which had so many markings on it... beyond recognition! decided to go to bedok to have dinner... time 11.30pm when we reached there. took some pictures of korkor... he always looks so blur. talked about add maths... and maybe he will give me tuition. that's what kor said... i hope he keeps his promise cos he scored 6 points for 'O' levels. will contact him again. so ya... the concert was a blast becos meijuan and korkor was inside! ACJC rocks lah! but too far for me... so option out! haha... anyway... gtg. on my way to malaysia soon... cya! dr.m manddaw
