the weather, i must say, is absolutely perfect for sleeping in. been raining the whole morning. initially wanted to just laze in camp after finishing my HQ duty... but my parents announced their arrival thru sms. so i trudged through the rain and cold to go to church. =) and yes, i'm in my comfortable adidas jacket now... enjoying the last few hours of book out once again. next week is going to be hectic given the number of full band practices we're going to have for ACPC. sigh.
so yesterday i did my HQ duty. stayed in the whitehouse till noon cos of the recruits' audition. and i managed to write out my letter to andrew (which i've been putting off), arrange my schedule and practice my clarinet at night. sickening dixie solo. don't know why i can't make all my high notes sound in tune. need to ask cpt tan aik kee for help already. but it was quite nice playing in camp. hearing it ring out in the distance and wondering whether any silly souls thought it spooky to hear high-pitched music late at night. haha. sekha was practically in his bunk most of the time, as was i. not much conversation between us... but he's generally nice to work with. not much complaints there. =)
the recent 4f bbq was nice and a great reunion for the few of us that turned up. haven't seen joel, kenneth, junsheng, joy, cheanyee etc since leaving tk. it was good i must say... save for the first few attempts at getting the fire started. but in the end, with officer joel there... it eventually got hot enough to start cooking the sausages, otah and chicken wings. didn't get to eat any of those cos i went out with pearlene and xiuqi to get some mee goreng and nasi goreng in case the fire didn't start. but well, who cares about the food when the company is awesome. thanks all. =)

pearlene, xiuqi and i

kenny, jiamin and i... the tk band days

4f. =)
didn't manage to send jax off to kneller hall though. cos i was stuck in east coast park without a taxi. and besides, i wanted to rush to the airport but he had to depart soon. so in the end, i wished soonbeng goodbye thru songhua. haha... how insincere? i know. sigh. wad to do. when he comes back three years later, he would have promoted from a sergeant to a captain. future DOM of ceremonial band c. oh well, i'll just wish him all the best in these three years that he'll get his certificate soon. thanks jax for being a friend despite the short time that we met. i'll see you someday perhaps...
on a totally random note, i wonder when's the next stayover/mahjong session? and i'm excited to get a comp soon. sigh. HURRY HURRY HURRY!!!
the cold weather plus comfortable bed and blanket is beckoning me. till the next eventful post. God bless!

i'm currently relaxing at home, languishing in my half day off from work. haha, ok... you can't really say i had a hard day. considering i woke up at 7.30am, did a bit of stretching and some static work-outs cos it began to rain. and since we band nsfs are paid fking peanuts. it's not worth falling sick for the nation. so yea, we went ended off with cool down just after doing warm ups. =) AMAZING HUR?
i spent most of the morning in office doing absolutely nothing. manning the company phone, answering calls, doing saikang for kaylim. and arranging scores for tmr's ASLC parade rehearsal. so my day was rather redundant. should have taken a full day off instead. all the people who pangsehed me (timothy yeo, lim shao ming) should hang themselves. annoying shits. haha. especially that lim shao ming, yesterday had so much time but didn't move his stuff to the new bunk.
afternoon, i went down to bloodbank with songhua to donate blood. been a year or more since i last donated. the whole process was quite fast. haha... especially when the blood filled up the bag quite quickly. haha, sounds wrong. but what kinda made me unsettled was when a trainee nurse was told to take out the needle. she was so hesitant and didn't really know what she wanted to do. i wanted to scream to songhua for help. haha. but he sat opposite me with a smirk on his face. haha.
at least i got blood donation out of the way for now...
now have to remember to get down to doing the converse photoshoot. right blake? then have to go shopping with conrad and songhua for computer window-shopping. then suntanning/relaxing someday after BMT. oh, not to forget booking a trip to bintan or bali for a short holiday. =) i'm so looking forward to it. oh, and to finish learning mahjong and driving. arrrggg, the elusive driving licence. haha...
STOP PROCRASTINATING!!!

it has been a week since i had the time to sit in front of comp to blog and upload pictures. been in camp and around, busy with life. spending money etc. so yea, for now... confining myself to home. at least i'll stop myself from spending unnecessary money on transportation, food (ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M OUT WITH SONGHUA AND CONRAD!) and movies (LIKEWISE WITH THE SAME GROUP OF BAND PEOPLE). with regards to the macbook pro, i find it hard to accept getting it now cos of my peanut pay. but well, i was thinking of getting the components of a PC and build it up from scratch... maybe that way i'll learn something about my comp. =) i'll get conrad to help me.
so yea, my week has been well... hectic in a certain way. not the sort with tons of parade and stuff. but with the huge worry of getting posted to band c, preparation for ASLC, POP and ACPC. oh, not forgetting numerous trips to town for lunch/dinner with friends, window-shopping, tailoring for no. 2 shirt and all. but yea, fruitful nonetheless. it'll be hard to expound on the past week so i'll leave it to pictures... since they do a effortless job in showing how much i'm enjoying band. like i always say... it's the simple pleasures in life that make me happy. =)

camping in dragon hall for army half marathon performance... dozing off from the lack of sleep.

waiting for sunlight. sergeant major wants these pictures to show how ridiculous it is to accept such deployments cos we see NO SHIT. can't even read a taugay from the score.

clarinet section... taken by captain tan

ok... finally, like some sunlight

lai tian yong, guest player. haha

yea, and the bus took such a long time that we ended up being so touristy.

JUMP.
that same day, after AHM... met up with benny and fuquan for four hours of catch-up at marina square. all the insanity captured within those few absolutely memorable four hours.

and yes, midweek... we had to go down to orchard to get conrad's yoshi.

songhua, me, conrad

yea, conrad's yoshi. and well, getting ready for next day's full band. just thankful for being in such a great unit. couldn't have asked for more. God really answers prayers. if not for band, i would be doing SOC and all sorts of stuff. but it is by His grace and mercy that i'm doing something i like. it gives me time to shop. for now, i'm planning my coming weeks to maximise my time.

hurray to macbooks! hahaha... currently in camp, doing nothing. actually, nothing would be kinda idle. so yea, i'm actually blogging... as you can see... relaxing from another day at work. =) today was a rather bo liao day... seeing the trainees graduate from the training wing. unfortunately, benny's cousin bing jian isn't coming to band b... if not it would be rather fun to have him around. then can bitch with him.
afternoon was equally boring. was attached out to get our tailoring done at chin hin tailor shop with the rest of band b which took like less than 3 mins for mark seah, timothy yeo, lim shao ming and i to get it done. the wonders of sharing a cab. =) the rest of the afternoon was just boring... walking around tiong bahru and plaza singapura.
so yea, other than just prepping myself up for the move to engineers by packing my locker and the random junks there are, i'm basically just stoning. other than using the macbook to blog, and running to band a bunk to play mahjong with nelson, kah siong and songhua, i'm talking to farhan. haven't really spoken to him cos he's always not around. and since this will most likely be the last time i'm blogging from bunk, i'll make it short and sweet. yea, moving to the engineer's side real soon. scrutiny will be tight so we will not be able to have entertainment like this any longer. boo hoo... will really miss the bunk here at ETI. the wind at night, the spaciousness of single beds and the freedom to do wad we like. but shit man, i don't want to imagine what will come after the move. definitely restrictions will be imposed given that we are using engineers' premises.
i haven't had the time to go home, but when i do, i'll upload the tons of pictures that are clogging up my dearest canon. some potential "facebook profile pictures" shots in there of me. =) duh, i'm the superstar. haha. ok, farhan needs to use his mac... i'll update more when i reach home. have to go back to playing mahjong. ciao.

how do you actually control your inner most desire without getting too carried away? it seems impossible especially when you've just spent almost 3 hours with one of your closest friends, exploring macbook in all its nooks and crannies. using photobooth like there's no tomorrow and getting all hyped up with the fascinating applications. OMG, i seriously need to get a MAC! LIKE NOW! who cares whether my parents refuse or wad, i have got to have it. it's like AMAZING to the power of infinity.
so let's see, i had one of the most amazing days in this week. from inactivity at the start of this week to the buzz of running around from home (in bedok) to camp (in nee soon) to ministry of defence (in bukit timah) to northpoint (in yishun) to tampines mall (in tampines... DUH!) all within a span of one day. and right now, even at one in the morning on a saturday, i'm still wide-eyed and very much awake. haha... talk about spamming my system with a bottle of milk coffee followed by starbucks' java chip. hmmm, no wonder i'm still jumping around like some hyperactive attention-seeking brat.
ok yes, today i got recalled by SAF for some GOH at the ministry of defence before having full band with cpt tan till 5 plus 6. i don't know what's wrong with my lips these days. i can't play more than three pieces without my lips turning into jelly. what the heck. so yea, anyway... then i had the pleasure of meeting my dearest platoon mate, LIM JIN HENG, for dinner at thai express. and my dearest brother gave me a treat cos well, he wanted to show that combat engineers earn more money than "useless musicians" like me. (as he claims)
lim jin heng... well, i wouldn't say he's very lucky (jin heng) cos he's quite suay... talk about not getting into sispec. presenting my retarded brother, don't we look alike? haha.
and yes, meeting him was a highlight cos i haven't seen my falcon platoon mates in ages. and i've been trying to meet up with him as well as some other close-knit mates. i'll be organising a small grp cohesion though when i have the time. TREETOP WALKS... some affinity with that place. =)
so yea, after dinner with him, i rushed down to tampines mall to meet the ONE AND ONLY MISS SABRINA LEE MEI CHAN (hahaha, i finally got it right heh!) for our hard-to-organise catch-up sessions. filling her in on my life in the SAF, bitching about whatever and whoever... we also explored her 2-month old baby macbook over grande cups of java chip or chocolate latte or something. yea, it was stunning... the macbook i mean (well, as stunning as the owner lah!) HAPPY?!?!
she was practically praising her macbook to the skies, showing off the apps and everything. so yea, i've been partially converted to a ardent macbook fan. and yes, i'm sitting here contemplating and praying hard for some cold hard cash to fall into my lap. by the way, she edited my facebook profile picture and took away the unsightly pimples. like WOW! i can finally have PIMPLE-FREE PICTURES! and i'll look oh-so-charming in pictures from now on if i can lay my hands on one of those aluminium beauties. what's worse is that many people already have it... justin teo, chelsea ng, sabrina lee, chan songhua. and the numbers are increasing. wonder whether rickson and juling have got macs too? so you see... MACBOOKS!!! how they make the world a better place.
cues music: "heal the world, make it a better place. for you and for me and the entire human race. all you need is just a macbook..."
THE MACBOOK CULPRIT WHO GOT ME MAD ABOUT IT... SABBY CHEEBONG LEE MEI CHAN! <3
look at the sashimi with the huge amount of wasabi that went right up my nose. oh, don't forget the succulent scallop. like OOOOOH LA LAAAA!
then there was a counter which had tempura which well, i took a bit to try. along with some asparagas, blue cheese and baked potatoes.
you should have seen my brother's face when he tasted the quiche. heavenly... *licks lips*
then for the main course, there were these three sausages which caught my eye. it was nice. along with it, i took some curry mutton, scallops and blue cheese to share. share the love ya? can't keep all the good things to yourself, can you?
the prawns they served were so succulent i had to take a picture of it to show you what a good prawn should be like. meaty and healthy. not those skinny little things that markets serve. BO BAK EH! and the chawamushi. (:
and finally, i ended off a great afternoon with tantalising TIRAMISU. the rum was just heavenly. i couldn't say anything... not even utter a "mmmmm" like those japanese food documentaries. pure luxury. ok, shaddap james. go sleep. it's 1.35am. haha, yea... ok, stop thinking about food. think about the mac better. haha. all in all, it was a good day or two... i must say. now i wonder what's up next week and the weeks to come. just praying for the best. night then.
ok, i've babbled on and on regarding something so insignificant when my dear uncle paul is suffering from great pain from the freaking tumour that seems to have pierced his stomach. i just pray that he's going to be ok. God, please take away all the discomfort uncle paul is suffering from. give aunt lily the strength to take care of uncle paul and that you will do a miracle in his life. let him rest comfortably and sleep well tonight and every night from now that he'll get well soon. may he be a living testimony to your goodness and mercy and your wondrous healing as he lies in bed now. give aunt lily and everyone else a peace of mind as they take care of uncle paul. in everything, we give thanks. amen!
and before i turn in,
Happy 19th Birthday Izzati Jamil! <3

at last... NDP is over. =) yes, it was bittersweet. the sweat, unhappiness and all coupled with the satisfaction and temporal loyalty and pride in the country. and though the block leave isn't much (pathetic 5 days), at least there's some rest before tmr. i'm getting recalled back for GOH tmr... so technically, i'm not having block leave. there's always this chance we have to go back to work halfway thru.
anyway, here's a peek at life at the NDP 090809.

this is it... months and months of saturday rehearsals all for tomorrow's ndp. yea, band b is still disgruntled that we're not playing songs composed by our DOM, cpt tan aik kee. four songs tmr... tentera singapura, we are one -128, will you, bandstand. and two of it chosen by someone else. sigh, i wish we were playing some of cpt tan's pieces... more challenging and nicer than some stupid "we are one - 128". i have no idea how many times they have changed the freaking repertoire all because of one man.
I ABSOLUTELY MISS HIS VERSION OF "WE ARE ONE"... beats "WE ARE ONE - 128" handsdown. don't really like it. we'll get over and done with it and no more jl's pieces. NO MORE!
after tmr, i'll be on a week hiatus from work. thursday has been booked for sentosa with SAF band b. but i wonder which of the other days will be occupied. i have plans to do some shopping but not firmed up yet. jio me will ya? haha. oh, mr blake chan... if you're reading this, i need to donate blood too. it's been ages.
as for now, i'm going to get a good night sleep before i head back to camp tmr at 10. hopefully i see lots of people i know at the marina site. and yes, the fireworks... may we have a beautiful view of it whilst marching back.
Happy 44th Birthday Singapore.
p.s. i'll comment on this one person who pissed me off a few days ago once ndp is over. =)
